What her students may not know that she, in fact, owns her own Harley and is part of a motorcycle club called The Lost Girls. Bergen is a visalia native that has worked at COS for fifteen years as an english teacher.

Bergen purchased a motorcycle after a year of wanting one. “I think it gives somebody more confidence.” says Bergen.

She joined the Lost Girls after one of their annual fundraisers that support local women with life-saving mammograms. The annual ride will take place Sunday October 4th. Registration for the ride will be at the Kaweah Delta Imaging Center. The price to ride is $25 per rider and $10 per passenger.

The ride is a poker run and prizes will he handed out to riders. A raffle and silent auction will be held, and vendors will be selling their goods at the event. All proceeds will go the Kaweah Delta Breast Cancer Center.

To those who are fans of FX’s hit show Sons of Anarchy, this year’s fundraiser will include an exhibit featuring memorabilia from the show. Two motorcycles, belonging to characters Jax and Opie, will be available to take pictures with for a donation.

Last year’s ride helped over 70 men and women receive life-saving mammograms and other services from their donation of $12,000. This year, the Lost Girls hope to write an even bigger check.
